Susceptibility testing of anaerobic bacteria
EUCAST has developed a disk diffusion method for AST of five important anaerobic species (Bacteroides spp, Prevotella spp., Fusobacterium necrophorum, Clostridium perfringens and Cutibacterium acnes).
Methodology, QC criteria and a reading guide was recently published. Breakpoints (reviewed clinical breakpoints and disk diffusion correlates) will be available in breakpoint table v 12.0 (1 January 2022).
