RAST: Screening for resistance mechanisms of epidemiological and/or infection control importance
Screening for R-mechanisms with RAST
Some resistance mechanisms require other than clinical breakpoints for sensitive detection.
EUCAST recommends screening for a number of resistance mechanisms for epidemiological and infection control purposes (see separate document).
EUCAST has validated using separate screening cut-offs for the detection of E. coli and K. pneumoniae with ESBL or carbapenemases.
