Dosing in children

The European Society for Pediatric Infectious Disease (ESPID) has accepted an invitation from EUCAST to discuss dosing of antibiotics in children with specific reference to the EUCAST Dosing Table (https://www.eucast.org/clinical_breakpoints/). EUCAST breakpoints, for both susceptible categories, S and I, are related to the exposure of the infecting organism at the site of infection. The current dosing table is the result of several years of work and international consultation. This needs to be translated into dosing and administration in children. The joint task force, consisting of representatives from ESPID and EUCAST, will start working on the 1st of March 2021. The ensuing proposal will be subject to public consultation.
